Job Summary/Responsibilities

Following all policies and procedures outlined in The Climbing Wall Staff Handbook. Opening and closing the wall as required according to their assigned shifts. Checking in each and every climber arriving at the wall. Ensuring that all climbers at the wall have a completed waiver on file. Monitoring the activities of all climbers at the wall and watching specifically for risk management. Ensuring that all issues and all wall policies and procedures are followed. Implicit in this responsibility is the expectation that Climbing Wall Staff will not climb while working at the wall, unless teaching/training or promoting The Climbing Wall. Conducting belay tests as needed. Spotting and belaying any and all un-certified students. Scanning any back‐logged waivers or belay test check-lists. Attending all scheduled meeting and trainings. Completing any assigned maintenance tasks. Reporting any incidents, issues or concerns to the Climbing Wall Supervisor promptly. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (can be obtained once hired).
Must have an interest in Wall Climbing and a desire to learn.
Availability during opening, weekday nights/weekend shifts.
Have a positive attitude and desire to assist customer.
Have a genuine interest in recreation, fitness and campus involvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Climbing Wall experience is preferred.
