General Description / Primary Purpose

This is skilled trades work in carpentry and includes performing the repair of wooden structures, modifications to existing building interiors, hanging sheetrock, roofing and flooring work, cabinet fabrication, and concrete work.

95% 1. Carpentry work 2. Modification work 3. Drywall work 4. Floor coverings installation and repair 5. Roofing/suspended ceiling installation and repair 6. Cabinet work 7. Applies paints, anti-corrosion products, and other coatings 8. Supplementary responsibilities 9. Installs and repairs wall coverings This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

5% Leadership. a) Supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of immediate supervisor; b) discusses projects with immediate supervisor to exchange ideas on methods to be used and to eliminate misunderstandings prior to beginning the work; c) takes responsibility seriously and works to achieve goals of management.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades; or a high school diploma and three years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
