Job Summary/Responsibilities

This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining a variety of activities, some of which are confidential, associated with Housing and Residence Life. This position requires knowledge of database functions, in that the position is heavily involved in utilizing the residential management system and other databases for the department.

This position has three primary areas that it provides support to, which are Housing Operations, Camps and Conferences, and Assignments. This position is made up of rapidly changing priorities with altered deadlines and requires extreme patience and understanding of resident students, housing guests and campus partners. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills. This position also entails the knowledge of several software programs including: spreadsheets, word processing, and use of the residential management system and other database applications. This position calls for a positive, self-motivated, detail oriented person with excellent interpersonal communication skills, willing to work in an environment requiring strong emphasis on providing superior customer service in conformance with the University’s mission and values. Housing and Residence Life is an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs, and as such, is measured by its ability to successfully interact with students and to assist in their individual needs and concerns. To this end, the Program Assistant will often be required to demonstrate a caring and patient attitude, utilize conflict resolution skills, and to ensure that every effort is made to create satisfied students.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
