General Description / Primary Purpose

The Coordinator IT Support, under the direction of a Manager or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs; May recommend policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Essential Duties

Job Function

- The IT Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the deployment and use of computer and information technology within the designated University departments, colleges, or divisions as directed by the Assistant Director for User Services (314080). – Primary area of responsibility includes the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction (CCEC). – The user base consists of faculty, staff, students, and non University members accessing supported technology in the above referenced areas. – Acts as a technical liaison for the campus community and consults with Information Technology Services staff, other UNF business units, and 3rd party vendors to resolve technical issues. – Advises users regarding technology-related hardware and software configurations prior to purchases. – Contacts vendors for quotes on supported and potential technology. – Maintains a detailed inventory and ensures security of all University technology within the supported areas. – Ensure continued compliance of all software licenses. – Attends Information Technology Services and other departmental meetings as needed or directed by the Assistant Director for User Services (314080). – Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for User Services (314080) in Information Technology Services – Provide coordination and direction for yearly goals and objectives assigned to support area staff. – Identify and ensure that performance service expectations are met or exceeded.

Marginal Functions

Attends meetings of Information Technology Services staff; utilizes staff resources when situation require additional expertise. Serves on committees, task forces, and work groups that pertain to computer support, as assigned by the Assistant Director for User Services (314080). May maintain scientific research equipment including robotics equipment, fuel-cell testing systems, materials testing devices, etc. Manages Active Directory systems including scripting and group policy objects. Works directly with faculty and students on various research projects. Manages Linux, Windows, and Mac workstations in faculty and staff offices and teaching labs. Coordinates technical support and assistance with Research Technology Services (RTS) staff as needed in Research Laboratories both on and off campus.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and two years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Departmental Requirements

Knowledge of computer software and hardware, client and network operating systems, local area networks, office automation software, and multimedia hardware and software.
