Job Summary/Responsibilities

This position requires a positive, self-motivated person with excellent interpersonal communication skills, willing to work in an environment requiring strong emphasis on providing superior student support in conformance with the University’s mission and values. The Peer-Assisted Student Success (PASS) program at the University of North Florida is an integral part of Academic Affairs and as such, is measured by its ability to successfully interact with students in a collaborative learning environment. To this end, the PASS Instructor will often be required to demonstrate a caring and patient attitude, to utilize conflict resolution skills, and to ensure that every effort is made to supply students with quality academic assistance in program courses.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be proficient in the course areas for which they wish to be PASS Instructors. In order to qualify as a PASS Instructor, you must have received an A in the course you will lead and you must have taken that course here at UNF.
Work hours are subject to the scheduling of multiple course sections and will vary depending on class and session times. The PASS Instructor should be available for a minimum of 6 hours of session instruction, 2 hours of preparation, and one and a half 1.5 hours to meet with staff for a total of 9.5 hours/week.
Applicants must be enrolled in either 6 undergraduate hours or 4 graduate hours of course work (Spring and Fall semester) and in either 4 undergraduate hours or 3 graduate hours of course work (Summer semester).
Sophomore level students or above; GPA 3.0 or higher; knowledge of subject matter; department chair approval.

Tutoring experience in an academic setting.
Experience working with students.
Outgoing and creative personality.
Successful performance in previous
